# Roast'd Coffee vs Theory

The clearest difference is rating: Theory at 4.6 against Roast'd Coffee's 3.8. Theory also leads on ratings volume (912 vs 6) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 3 months). Roast'd Coffee's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Theory holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Theory has 912 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Roast'd Coffee's written reviews are positive against 18% of Theory's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Roast'd Coffee ships an update every 3 months, Theory every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
