# NewPassword! vs pwd

The clearest difference is rating: pwd at 4.7 against NewPassword!'s 3.7. pwd also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). NewPassword!'s advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 75%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

pwd holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: pwd has 49 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of NewPassword!'s written reviews are positive against 75% of pwd's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NewPassword! ships an update every 8 months, pwd every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
