# NewPassword! vs QR Code Reader

NewPassword! and QR Code Reader both sit at 3.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of NewPassword!'s written reviews are positive against 50% of QR Code Reader's. NewPassword! also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4). QR Code Reader's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 8 months). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. QR Code Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. NewPassword! asks for nothing beyond the download.

QR Code Reader holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Code Reader has 139 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of NewPassword!'s written reviews are positive against 50% of QR Code Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NewPassword! ships an update every 8 months, QR Code Reader every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
