# Volcano vs Pipe

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Pipe at 100% against Volcano's 38%. Pipe also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Volcano's advantage is ratings volume (374 vs 6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Volcano sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Pipe sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pipe holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Volcano has 374 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 38% of Volcano's written reviews are positive against 100% of Pipe's.

Volcano ships an update every 11 days, Pipe every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
