# Houzz Pro vs Building Tools

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Building Tools at 100% against Houzz Pro's 20%. Building Tools also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Houzz Pro's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 1.0) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Houzz Pro sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $39.99 per month and Building Tools sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $16.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Houzz Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Houzz Pro has 5K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Houzz Pro's written reviews are positive against 100% of Building Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Houzz Pro ships an update weekly, Building Tools fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
