# Mullvad VPN vs Owky

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Owky at none against Mullvad VPN's 4. Owky also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). Mullvad VPN's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mullvad VPN sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Owky asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mullvad VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mullvad VPN has 1.4K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 58% of Mullvad VPN's written reviews are positive against 50% of Owky's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
