# Elpass vs SiYuan

The clearest difference is update cadence: SiYuan at every 8 days against Elpass's every 2 months. Elpass's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.9). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Elpass sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and SiYuan sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Elpass holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 40 and 30 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Elpass's written reviews are positive against 67% of SiYuan's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Elpass ships an update every 2 months, SiYuan every 8 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
