# MINI RD vs OBD2 Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: OBD2 Scanner at 4.6 against MINI RD's 3.0. OBD2 Scanner also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). MINI RD's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 6) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OBD2 Scanner sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. MINI RD asks for nothing beyond the download.

OBD2 Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OBD2 Scanner has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MINI RD ships an update every 4 months, OBD2 Scanner monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
