# Video maker vs Xmas Frames

The clearest difference is rating: Xmas Frames at 4.5 against Video maker's 3.0. Video maker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 11 months). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video maker sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.49 per year and Xmas Frames sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Xmas Frames holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 2 respectively.

Video maker ships an update every 2 weeks, Xmas Frames every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
