# Scan Now vs Text Extractor

The clearest difference is ads: Text Extractor at none against Scan Now's shown. Text Extractor also leads on rating (4.3 vs 4.1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.5). Scan Now's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (89% vs 71%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scan Now sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Text Extractor sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text Extractor holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scan Now has 264 ratings behind it against 32, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of Scan Now's written reviews are positive against 71% of Text Extractor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scan Now ships an update every 9 days, Text Extractor every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
