# Book Writer vs WriteOn

The clearest difference is review sentiment: WriteOn at 100% against Book Writer's 19%. WriteOn also leads on rating (5.0 vs 3.9) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Book Writer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (79 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Book Writer sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and WriteOn sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WriteOn holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Book Writer has 79 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 19% of Book Writer's written reviews are positive against 100% of WriteOn's.

Book Writer ships an update every 5 weeks, WriteOn every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
