# Notes vs Tick

The clearest difference is rating: Notes at 4.8 against Tick's 2.0. Notes also leads on ratings volume (654 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Tick sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes has 654 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Notes ships an update monthly, Tick every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
