# Flatmates vs Whale Watching

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Whale Watching at none against Flatmates's 10. Whale Watching also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and review sentiment (30% vs 17%). Flatmates's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flatmates sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whale Watching asks for nothing beyond the download.

Flatmates holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 58 and 23 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Flatmates's written reviews are positive against 30% of Whale Watching's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
