# SwimJim vs Heatwise Studio

The clearest difference is monetization model: SwimJim at free against Heatwise Studio's free with in-app purchases. SwimJim also leads on device support (3 vs 1). Heatwise Studio's advantage is ratings volume (701 vs 3). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SwimJim against 5.0 for Heatwise Studio. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Heatwise Studio has 701 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SwimJim ships an update monthly, Heatwise Studio every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
