# DigitalGift vs Specialized chip

The clearest difference is rating: Specialized chip at 5.0 against DigitalGift's 4.1. Specialized chip also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 12.0). DigitalGift's advantage is ratings volume (17 vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Specialized chip holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DigitalGift has 17 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DigitalGift ships an update every 3 months, Specialized chip every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 20, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
