# Fonos vs readbox

The clearest difference is ads: readbox at none against Fonos's shown. Fonos's advantage is chart position (#156 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fonos sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and readbox sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
