# Texty Pro vs Forward SMS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Texty Pro at none against Forward SMS's 2. Forward SMS's advantage is rating (3.5 vs 3.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Forward SMS sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Texty Pro asks for nothing beyond the download.

Forward SMS holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Forward SMS has 24 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Texty Pro's written reviews are positive against 33% of Forward SMS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Texty Pro ships an update every 5 weeks, Forward SMS weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
