# Z vs Octopus

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Octopus at 78% against Z's 6%. Octopus also leads on rating (5.0 vs 2.3) and ratings volume (22K vs 66). Z's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Octopus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Octopus has 22K ratings behind it against 66, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 6% of Z's written reviews are positive against 78% of Octopus's.

Z ships an update every 2 weeks, Octopus every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
