# DigWords vs Scanner

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Scanner at 13 against DigWords's 2. On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DigWords sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Scanner sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for DigWords against 4.9 for Scanner. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DigWords ships an update every 4 months, Scanner every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
