# Texter vs 2ndphone

Texter and 2ndphone both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 87% of 2ndphone's written reviews are positive against 21% of Texter's. 2ndphone also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Texter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 152). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Texter sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and 2ndphone sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Texter against 4.5 for 2ndphone. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Texter has 1.2K ratings behind it against 152, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 21% of Texter's written reviews are positive against 87% of 2ndphone's.

Texter ships an update monthly, 2ndphone weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
