# Texter vs 2nd

The clearest difference is monetization model: Texter at free with in-app purchases against 2nd's subscription. Texter also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (4 vs 2). 2nd's advantage is review sentiment (35% vs 21%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Texter sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and 2nd sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Texter against 4.7 for 2nd. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.2K and 2.2K respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 21% of Texter's written reviews are positive against 35% of 2nd's.

Texter ships an update monthly, 2nd every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
