# Texter vs 2nd Line

Texter and 2nd Line both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 71% of 2nd Line's written reviews are positive against 21% of Texter's. 2nd Line also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Texter sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and 2nd Line sells 23 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Texter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.2K and 1.3K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of Texter's written reviews are positive against 71% of 2nd Line's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Texter ships an update monthly, 2nd Line fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
