# Hey Chef vs Osmows

The clearest difference is rating: Osmows at 4.7 against Hey Chef's 4.3. Osmows also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (118 vs 7). Hey Chef's advantage is review sentiment (53% vs 32%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Osmows holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Osmows has 118 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Hey Chef's written reviews are positive against 32% of Osmows's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hey Chef ships an update every 3 months, Osmows fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
