# Story Plotter vs Motif

The clearest difference is rating: Motif at 5.0 against Story Plotter's 4.4. Story Plotter's advantage is ratings volume (193 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Story Plotter sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Motif sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Motif holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Story Plotter has 193 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 79% and 78% positive.

Story Plotter ships an update every 2 weeks, Motif every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
