# Zeleaux vs Encrypted Email

The clearest difference is monetization model: Zeleaux at free against Encrypted Email's freemium. Zeleaux also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Encrypted Email's advantage is ratings volume (111 vs 3) and rating (3.9 vs 3.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Encrypted Email holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypted Email has 111 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Zeleaux ships an update fortnightly, Encrypted Email every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
