# Text Scanner vs Iris

The clearest difference is rating: Text Scanner at 4.8 against Iris's 3.7. Text Scanner also leads on ratings volume (38 vs 12) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). Iris's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Text Scanner ships an update every 6 months, Iris fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
