# Drum Notes vs Drum Rudiments Trainer

The clearest difference is update cadence: Drum Notes at every 2 weeks against Drum Rudiments Trainer's every 10 months. Drum Notes also leads on ratings volume (207 vs 9). Drum Rudiments Trainer's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (67% vs 56%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Drum Notes sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Drum Rudiments Trainer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Drum Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Drum Notes has 207 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Drum Notes's written reviews are positive against 67% of Drum Rudiments Trainer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Drum Notes ships an update every 2 weeks, Drum Rudiments Trainer every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
