# Russian ー Listening・Speaking vs Luna Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: Luna Reader at every 3 days against Russian ー Listening・Speaking's every 6 weeks. Luna Reader also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6). Russian ー Listening・Speaking's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 91%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.0). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Russian ー Listening・Speaking sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Luna Reader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Luna Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 24 and 40 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Russian ー Listening・Speaking's written reviews are positive against 91% of Luna Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Russian ー Listening・Speaking ships an update every 6 weeks, Luna Reader every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
