# CoStep vs StepsMate Step Counter

The clearest difference is rating: CoStep at 5.0 against StepsMate Step Counter's 4.5. CoStep also leads on ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CoStep sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and StepsMate Step Counter sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CoStep holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 14 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of CoStep's written reviews are positive against 80% of StepsMate Step Counter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
