# Proofreader AI Grammar Checker vs Wave Writer

Proofreader AI Grammar Checker and Wave Writer both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Wave Writer's written reviews are positive against 65% of Proofreader AI Grammar Checker's. Wave Writer also leads on iOS requirement (13.4 vs 16.6). Proofreader AI Grammar Checker's advantage is ratings volume (3.3K vs 5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proofreader AI Grammar Checker sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Wave Writer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Proofreader AI Grammar Checker against 4.6 for Wave Writer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proofreader AI Grammar Checker has 3.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 65% of Proofreader AI Grammar Checker's written reviews are positive against 100% of Wave Writer's.

Proofreader AI Grammar Checker ships an update fortnightly, Wave Writer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
