# Engross vs Focused Work

Engross and Focused Work both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 85% of Focused Work's written reviews are positive against 49% of Engross's. Focused Work also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (603 vs 46). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Engross sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Focused Work sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Engross against 4.7 for Focused Work. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focused Work has 603 ratings behind it against 46, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 49% of Engross's written reviews are positive against 85% of Focused Work's.

Engross ships an update every 4 weeks, Focused Work weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
