# OPA App Official vs Black Walnut

OPA App Official and Black Walnut both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Black Walnut's written reviews are positive against 56% of OPA App Official's. Black Walnut also leads on update cadence (every 6 months vs every 34 months). OPA App Official's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (450 vs 22). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

OPA App Official holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OPA App Official has 450 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of OPA App Official's written reviews are positive against 100% of Black Walnut's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OPA App Official ships an update every 34 months, Black Walnut every 6 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
