# Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN vs Opera GX

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Opera GX at none against Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN's 4. Opera GX also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (98K vs 2K). Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN's advantage is review sentiment (90% vs 75%) and iOS requirement (13 vs 18.0). On price, rating, update cadence and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Opera GX asks for nothing beyond the download.

Opera GX holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Opera GX has 98K ratings behind it against 2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN's written reviews are positive against 75% of Opera GX's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Phoenix Browser + Proxy VPN ships an update every 3 weeks, Opera GX monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
