# StraboTools vs Scots Connect

The clearest difference is rating: StraboTools at 5.0 against Scots Connect's 3.0. StraboTools also leads on ratings volume (10 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.4). Scots Connect's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

StraboTools holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StraboTools has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

StraboTools ships an update every 2 months, Scots Connect every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
