# Vestaboard vs Modwella

The clearest difference is rating: Vestaboard at 4.6 against Modwella's 3.7. Vestaboard also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (141 vs 6). Modwella's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Vestaboard holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Vestaboard has 141 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Vestaboard's written reviews are positive against 80% of Modwella's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Vestaboard ships an update every 2 months, Modwella every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
