# xScan vs Scan Now

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Scan Now at 60% against xScan's 42%. Scan Now also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6). xScan's advantage is ratings volume (31K vs 2K) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. xScan sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Scan Now sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $7.95 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scan Now holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: xScan has 31K ratings behind it against 2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 42% of xScan's written reviews are positive against 60% of Scan Now's.

xScan ships an update fortnightly, Scan Now every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
