# Fancy Text Symbols vs Selector

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Selector at none against Fancy Text Symbols's 2. Selector also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Fancy Text Symbols's advantage is ratings volume (2K vs 2). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fancy Text Symbols sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Selector asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Fancy Text Symbols against 4.5 for Selector. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fancy Text Symbols has 2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 80% of Fancy Text Symbols's written reviews are positive against 100% of Selector's.

Fancy Text Symbols ships an update every 2 months, Selector every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
