# Pinecone Research vs Freecycle

The clearest difference is rating: Freecycle at 5.0 against Pinecone Research's 2.0. Pinecone Research's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (144 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Freecycle holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pinecone Research has 144 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of Pinecone Research's written reviews are positive against 0% of Freecycle's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
