# Countdown ∙ vs Upcoming

The clearest difference is monetization model: Countdown ∙ at free with in-app purchases against Upcoming's subscription. Countdown ∙ also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.6). Upcoming's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 29 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown ∙ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Upcoming sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Countdown ∙ against 4.7 for Upcoming. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 84 and 40 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of Countdown ∙'s written reviews are positive against 57% of Upcoming's.

Countdown ∙ ships an update every 29 months, Upcoming every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
