# DMV WRITTEN TEST vs Drive Prep

The clearest difference is ads: Drive Prep at none against DMV WRITTEN TEST's shown. DMV WRITTEN TEST's advantage is ratings volume (138K vs 2) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Drive Prep holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV WRITTEN TEST has 138K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DMV WRITTEN TEST ships an update every 2 weeks, Drive Prep monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
