# Opal vs Alarm Scan

The clearest difference is rating: Opal at 4.7 against Alarm Scan's 2.0. Opal also leads on ratings volume (90K vs 1) and chart position (#53 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Opal sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Alarm Scan sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Opal holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Opal has 90K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
