# MaxiVPN vs AirVPN

The clearest difference is rating: MaxiVPN at 4.2 against AirVPN's 2.0. MaxiVPN also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MaxiVPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and AirVPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MaxiVPN holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MaxiVPN has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MaxiVPN ships an update monthly, AirVPN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
