# SaneBox vs Impression Journal

The clearest difference is rating: Impression Journal at 5.0 against SaneBox's 4.6. SaneBox's advantage is ratings volume (650 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SaneBox sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Impression Journal sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Impression Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SaneBox has 650 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SaneBox ships an update every 3 weeks, Impression Journal every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
