# Tusker vs MetaGates

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MetaGates at none against Tusker's 4. MetaGates also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Tusker's advantage is ratings volume (30 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tusker sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. MetaGates asks for nothing beyond the download.

MetaGates holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tusker has 30 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Tusker ships an update every 3 months, MetaGates every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
