# Task vs CourseLynx

The clearest difference is rating: Task at 5.0 against CourseLynx's 4.3. Task also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.4). CourseLynx's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 18 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Task holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CourseLynx has 35 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Task ships an update every 18 months, CourseLynx every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
