# The Nail Cakery vs PLA Pro

The clearest difference is update cadence: The Nail Cakery at every 3 weeks against PLA Pro's every 4 months. The Nail Cakery also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and review sentiment (100% vs 90%). PLA Pro's advantage is ratings volume (1.8K vs 49) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PLA Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PLA Pro has 1.8K ratings behind it against 49, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of The Nail Cakery's written reviews are positive against 90% of PLA Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Nail Cakery ships an update every 3 weeks, PLA Pro every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
