# NetGalley Shelf vs APLApp

The clearest difference is rating: APLApp at 3.4 against NetGalley Shelf's 2.1. APLApp also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months). NetGalley Shelf's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 0%) and ratings volume (85 vs 8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

APLApp holds the better App Store score, 3.4 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NetGalley Shelf has 85 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of NetGalley Shelf's written reviews are positive against 0% of APLApp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NetGalley Shelf ships an update every 6 months, APLApp every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
