# Novelful vs Novel Reader

The clearest difference is rating: Novel Reader at 4.3 against Novelful's 2.2. Novel Reader also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5). Novelful's advantage is ratings volume (61 vs 6) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Novelful sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Novel Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

Novel Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Novelful has 61 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 7% of Novelful's written reviews are positive against 0% of Novel Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Novelful ships an update every 5 weeks, Novel Reader every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
