# Disc Golf Network vs RipReader

The clearest difference is monetization model: RipReader at freemium against Disc Golf Network's subscription. RipReader also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). Disc Golf Network's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 72) and chart position (#102 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Disc Golf Network sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and RipReader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RipReader holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Disc Golf Network has 1.1K ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 45% of Disc Golf Network's written reviews are positive against 65% of RipReader's.

Disc Golf Network ships an update every 2 months, RipReader weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
