# Altruize vs Countdown Buddy

The clearest difference is ads: Countdown Buddy at none against Altruize's shown. Countdown Buddy also leads on ratings volume (26K vs 12) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). Altruize's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 68%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Altruize sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Countdown Buddy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Altruize against 4.6 for Countdown Buddy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown Buddy has 26K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Altruize's written reviews are positive against 68% of Countdown Buddy's.

Altruize ships an update every 2 months, Countdown Buddy every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
